I have noticed that recently, I have had a fairly noticable drop in performance and gas mileage, and running a hair on the uneven side, but not throwing any codes.

And I have reached 82K+ on the odo.

So as far as I can tell I need to get new spark plugs soon. so my question is this,

What kind of spark plugs are you running, and how do you like them, were they expensive, and if so, were they worth the extra $$?

I run nothing but NGK in everything and have had great results. Right now I have v-powers in my jeep and they work well.

I'm not sure if they were ever changed, what's the easiest way to tell?

I use the autolite platinums-5224-and like them. Yes, it sounds like you need plugs. Change the air filter, too, if you are unsure of its condition as a dirty one will effect your mileage as well.

also since you are unsure, change the PCV as as well
so
plugs
air filter
PCV
all contribute to a better running engine

For 3.7 - I agree with Autolite's or even Denso. They both make excellent plugs.

Off topic, sort-of - learned after I bought my Rubi (4.0) the old fashioned tractor motors don't run so good on anything but basic copper Champions (which is what they came with off the assembly line).

IIRC, I was paying $2.50 for Autolite APP's. The Champions I just bought ran me $1.00 each. Yeah, it's nice to know someone in the wholesale auto parts business.

How well do you like them? I just dropped the coin on them a few hours ago, so I hope they are well worth it. I'm hoping I can get 40,000 miles out of them.

tryin to remember what all plugs i tried over the past year

autolite plats, autolite irid extremes, regular ngk irids and the IX

i'm stayin with the IX or the regular ngk irids from here out, my particular setup did not operate well with autolites but it was just one of those peculiarities

all 4 are good plugs that ive had awesome performance from in different vehicles

i really like the IX ngk's tho

I've run the NGK V-Power since I got mine too. I like them. My roommate threw some NGK Iridiums on his bike & he said they did excellent. I'm thinking about dropping the coin for them the next time I get them.

I changed to the NGK iridiums yesterday, myself. I've been getting p2300 codes for two years, off and on, changed my plugs 2 years ago, and slowly changed all the coil packs thinking they were the problem. Then, this week, I got codes for cylinders 1,2, and 4 at the same time. I took a wild stab in the dark and decided it was time to change the plugs again. After changing the plugs, it's the smoothest she's run in a looong time! Hope you get the same results. 8)

Of course, when I went to get a rag out of the back, the window and tailgate opened fine. The tailgate closed fine. As for the window.................I currently have a bunjee holding it closed, until I can get it into the mechanic tomorrow. :banghead: (Sometimes, you just can't win.......)

I guess I've got to start remembering what an old time postal worker told me about my postal jeep, 12 years ago-"Don't EVER say you're jeep is running well! As soon as you do, something else will go wrong!"(Regarding that '76 postal, she was right)

I changed mine at 95K and I put in E3 Dimond Fire. The performace picked up and feels that much better. Really good upgrade!

I've heard people have misfiring and poor running vehicles with the E3... just what I've heard though. I run ngk iridiums in everything I own.
