I miss posted this in another area on accident, So i am reposting it here.

Its been a little while since i checked the site and have read some of the new threads on the lifts and so on. I am curious, in the general opinion, which is the ebst Budget lift kit? im still looking into getting one but money is getting tight as i am close to buying a new home and recently renewed my love for hunting...i really got to drop one of these expensive habbits...

But the question remains..which is one of the better budget lifts out there?

appreciate the thoughts gents.

The only "Budget Boost" worth using is Daystar, but in the end you need new shocks all around to make it ride decently. When you add in new shocks, you end up spending almost as much as a full spring lift, with a worse ride. Save up your money and buy OME springs and Rancho shocks and bumpstops (you can also use top plates up and a clevis lift up front and extra isolators in the back if you want more lift), the ride is amazing and if your patient and order a little at a time it comes out to 650-700. Surf around for deals, lift components show up in the for sale section here alot- Stick with springs rather then spacers though, your Jeep with thank you. I know what you mean by money being tight, Im 16 and i managed to save up all the money mowing lawns so its definitely possible.

Best of luck, im sure someone else will chime in here pretty soon.

i have the daystar, but comparing the daystar to the rock krawler, id say the rock krawler would be a better idea, as you are getting a longer clevis and not compressing the spring.

and then upgrade the rear shocks.

in my opinion looking at the kits i dont like any of them. i tried the rustys 2.5inch unit but it did not fit right the upper controll arm hit the spring at full droop. and the big issue was it crushed the shock rubber washer and did not let it flex. so i think im going with none unless i get stuck with this rusties kit then i use the rear and build my own forks. good luck with your hunt

If you're going to make your own clevis why not just go with the rock krawler.

Has to be a better solution

So tommudd, Is it personal toward RK for what they have done in the past or just the Clevis lift that you don't support. For example, if Jeepinbyal provided the same lift and you were on a budget would you purchase it? I know we would all get it from him before going thru RK, cause it has been proven that he stands by his work and fully supports us.
I'm not trying to argue, so don't take it the wrong way I just want to focus on product. I have purchased a used RK Lift, don't know how I'll feel about it cause I haven't installed it yet, but just wanted to keep the discussion related to products only.

I had a Rock Krawler lift. It did come with hardware rated less then the stock but that can easily replaced for maybe $25. There is nothing more wrong with the budget boost then any other budget boost. The kit is in my opinion the easiest to install and they're all about the same price so it was an easy choice for me. :2cents:

The only reason they have a bad rap in the Liberty world is because of the 7up kit.

I concur, Dirty KK. I ordered the Hex to Grade 10, but kept the other ones original. I guess they are Grade 5 since they only have 3 lines on the top instead of 5 (for the Grade 10). The price for just the Hex was $2.15 ea.

so if i am getting it right there is no such thing as a good budget lift..and i should probably save the money and drop a grand or so on a complete package.

BUT

I only want to lift about 1.5-2.5 at most so i can get some decent tires and have a little more ground clearance when i ocasionally go off roading. If you get the chance to check the pictures section you can see the type of terrain i hit usually. Honestly my stock gear work sjust find but id like bigger tires and so, in my onion, i may as well get a lift while im at it since i dont want to loose turning radious when i get a little bigger tires.

So now with that information...is a RK budget lift REALLY that bad ( :banghead: )

http://www.rockkrawler.com/

This one isnt SUPER high and seems like it will minimize the negative affects that i have read a lot about. Am i on the right track here?

http://www.teraflex.biz/products/kk-lib ... -2008.html

Or should i just save the money and go with a full on kit with it all..

http://jeepinbyal.com/prod-2_5__Lift_Sp ... K-610.aspx

This is the likely the one ill go with for a "Budget" lift

I think we are all voting for the RK, except for tommudd, that would not be caught dead w any product from RK. We also discussed the hardware. you don't need to change it, a lot of people run it like that w/o any problems, We are talking if you want to go the extra mile and get the grade 10. RK made a lift for KJ that was called 7up, and it was great to get the height people wanted but w that height it would break everything, it was a POS, so the fact was that RK did not do their Research & Destruction test + could not stand behind their product and it was a pain. If you don't want to buy from them cause they did that in the past you are entitled to it. The RK lift has been fabricated for the Grand Cherokee, Commander, and Liberty, if it was breaking like the 7up they made it would be off of their inventory like the 7up is. Well good luck.

not that i do, but i dont like having this on any of my vehicles that is not right from my car to my boat. 2.5 is just slightly to tall for me with ball joint angles and im not willing to front the money for the upper controll arms. especally since i know know that the 255 70 r16 fit very well.
