hey guys,
i'm new here (first post), i test drove a 2012 KK last night.
sport, basic with power everything, and the bluetooth and voice command thing. not all the bells and whistles. which i think is the Driver Convenience Group.

my question is, what is a fair price on it ?
sticker is $24,600, dealer offered $23,900 - $3000 rebates or $20,900.
please let me know what you guys think.

and what do you think are the pros and cons on that specific model ?
if you guys give me good insight, i'll be driving home with it on monday.
Thank you all.

4x4, 4x2? If it's 4x4, does it have selec-trac II?

$24,975 is what is showing for the basic Sport 4x4, so if it is for a Jeep Liberty Sport 4x4 it's probably a decent deal.

As far as pros and cons... Depends on what you want to use it for.

-Pros : It has a pretty capable 4x4 system. It will take you anywhere you want to go within reason stock, but there aren't a lot of aftermarket parts available for it yet. I believe it is the last year for the Liberty before they take away everything that makes it an offroad jeep. The selec-trac system is very nice for snow and ice, and it still has 4x4 low. 5,000lbs towing.

-Cons : There are a few known electrical problems, take a look at the tech forum for more info. If you're not going to wheel it, there are much better daily drivers in a midsize SUV. If you are going to wheel it, there are better platforms to make an offroad rig out of, they're just not as plush. Doesn't come stock with a locking rear diff. The stock tires suck.

Overall I've been very happy with my Liberty, and everyone has been suprised by how capable it is, but it is a compromise vehicle. There are better platforms for both daily drivers and for offroad vehicles. I went with it for the 4x4 system, the towing capacity and for the slightly shorter wheelbase over the Rubicon Unlimited. But I have mine set up for an expedition vehicle, not for a balls to the walls offroad platform.

When I decide to build one of those I'll buy a... Unimog

Or a Ural :P

Thank you for the reply.
it is a 4x2, so no off-roading for me.

I would reconsider if I were you. Why is it the right vehicle for you?
Most people buy the Liberty because it has a very capable 4x4 system but its more comfortable than a wrangler. I think if you are looking for a non-4x4 then there are better options for you. You will be less than impressed with the MPG (although Im sure you have probably seen the EPA estimates). Also, since you will be buying a 4x2, it'll be a pretty uncomfortable ride with little to show for it. If you're looking for towing then I could understand why you would consider one.
Where are you located?

I own a 2010 4x4 that Im looking to sell after the winter. I found that I dont use the 4x4 as much as I thought I would and it doesnt make sense for me to own one. My MPGs arent that great either. Im only getting 13 mpg in 2wd with Grabber AT2s.

Also, if you're looking to make it fast, you should consider something else. Its a jeep and there's no aftermarket. You will be SOL.

However, if you do end up with a Liberty, you have come to the right forum. Everyone on here is super helpful and unbelievably respectful. Good luck!

I hope this was helpful! :D

Again, thank you for the reply.
reason i'm getting it, is for my girlfrriend, she needs a small SUV.
i'm not looking for towing since my truck can tow 10K + lbs.
after looking at all SUV's in that size, the libery KK was the most reasonable ones in the price to size ratio. that is the main reason.

thank you so much for your help, honestly, i'm hoping to come to a decision tonight as i'm going to the dealer ship tomorrow.
i might be able to knock off another $900 + get window tint. i know it's not much but something.

Id always get 4x4 on a SUV and if your not going to wheel maybe a chevy equinox LS would be a better choice...

really no need to the 4x4, and was never a fan of the equinox. which is the same price as the KK .
had cheap chevys before, and the interior is crap.
but your input is greatly appreciated.
