I would love to do it myself however I am handicapped literally. I was in a bad car accident and shattered my wrist and lost 30% movement, doesn't sounds bad but trust me I am unable to lift anything heavy and pul/tug on stuff without being in pain. My buddy who did my lift can even look at it until next thur cause hes so backed up with sidework. who knows if the axle will last that long. I am more worried if when the tech changes the axle if he will still reuse a worn intermediate shaft. I think I will let them know please replace it anyway. Are these front axles a problem with liberties that are lifted?

Sorry to hear about your wrist. That definitely makes turning a wrench harder/ near impossible.

I think your CV should last through the week. Granted, I haven't heard how bad it is, but mine went for about a month or two between when I first noticed it and when it got so bad I decided to stop driving on the highway, and got it changed. The junkyard I ordered from sent me both the right CV and intermediate shaft, so getting the tech to install both was not a problem. I wanted to do it myself but didn't have the tools I needed. Called up my mechanic and he said he could put it in for $100.

I don't think our lifted liberties have CV issues in general, as I haven't seen many KK folks post about that, and a lot of us have lifts. It happens to the KJ's occasionally, but they can get remanufactured CVs from Napa. Napa doesn't have them yet for KK's because of lack of demand/newness of the vehicle I suppose. I'm sure eventually we will be able to buy them there.

I didn't go to the junkyard to get the part myself. They shipped it to me. I was able to choose one that had only 20K miles on it (donor vehicle was rear-ended). Maybe you could get one that way?

SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Back on the road ok now. :JEEPIN:

turns out the intermediate shaft was ok the tech said, the splines did not look messed up. He said he found a dead spot in the inside CV and you could feel it. even though I bought a new shaft he said that Chrysler still has a core charge on it? I argues with them since its a new shaft and not reman I should not have a core. but they said Chrysler has core chargers on them.

the tech then told me if I had trans issues that the lift would void that warranty too since the lift puts stress on the trans due to drive shaft issues and I better put it back to stock. He then told me "who lifts a liberty anyway, get a wrangler"

Major parts from the dealer will have cores, new or not.GM has cores on allow rims regardless how messed up or how many pieces it's in.There trying to curb knockoffs for OE rims and unsafe "re-furbished" OE rims since a lot of shotty re-furb OE rims have been showing up on the market being sold as "new" OEM.

this whole thing got me thinking, they basicly told me my trans warranty is gone, how reliable are these transmissions in the KKs? I read the newer 42rle trans have updates but will this trans last 100k? i really don't wanna go back to stock :(

when they took the libby in on trade, the sales manager didn't even drive it off the lot, just looked it over and drove it around the building. The next day I took the spare key and stock suspension to them (part of the deal) the sales manager asked me if I have ever noticed something weird about the passenger side front. I said yeah, your service department diagnosed a bad CV and replaced it but the noise didn't go away. He said he will have to have them check it again because the noise doesn't sound good. I told him that it was their issue now. on top of that I just disputed the original charge with my CC company because the dealer wanted to charge me another 151 bucks to diagnose the noise again. they believe it was my issue. When I told the company I was still within bumper to bumper warranty they were not happy about that.

I like it. I would have never let the dealer keep the lift. I would have pulled it out the day before trading it in, and dropped it off lol.

lots of little things made me get rid of it. for starters, already had the rear rebuilt due to a howl it had, 10k after the rebuild, the howl came back. and still is. The seats on the drivers side was starting to come apart on the side by the controls, air leaked around the windshield while driving, the gas mileage was horrible, then the noise/vibration I started to get was terrible. they claimed it was the axle and I had to pay 500$ to fix it. turns out it did not fix the issue and had to file a claim to get refunded, they wanted to charge me another 150 diag fee and still said it was an axle cause that what their master tech said. I did not fry a second axle in less than 24 hours with a ome lift! plus they told me that no matter what a lift will void my PT warranty cause it can be all tied back to the lift. I personally think it was a transfer case or front center diff. I always said my next car will be a JKU so I said F it and it turns out they gave me a fair trade in amount and a hell of a deal on the wrangler.
