Are you sure it was cracked? The fuel tank skid is open on the corners, I'd show you a pic if I could find one. I thought it was odd when I first saw it, too.

....didn't think to look for the rear one though, but didn't notice it when i looked at the fuel tank skid....all other skids were present though from what I could tell....interior looked very good...paint was good, engine was clean, didn't have time for a test drive though since they were pretty much closed....maybe this weekend I'll get to take it for a spin and make sure it's a good ride, my dad on the other hand found a 2006 4x4 Sport

that he his more partial in helping me acquire since it is newer and has fewer miles, however i've tried to convince him that it doesn;t have the options like the renny and all that jazz...but we'll see....he has the final say though...even though i'll be the one paying for it in less then a year.

Compare the options of the renny and the sport and the price and see if it really is worth it. Skids and tow hooks can be added later pretty easily. The flat hood is near-impossible to add on later. 160A alternator is a renegade-specific thing, but it's not all that necessary.
I say tell him that you just really hate the curved hood of the sports and limiteds and you'd rather look for a deal on another renegade or rocky mountain.
So the 2005 Renegade with 24k on it is going for $19k, what is the 2006 sport going for (and what is the mileage?)
