I just purchased my first jeep! I have had a RAV4 and Samuria but this is my first serious off road vehicle. I'm into exploring trails with my family. I travel to AZ frequently and am looking for some good spots around here in South Texas to explore. As far as the Jeep goes, it has 100k miles, just had the timing chain done and it is all stock. It is the Smartrack 4x4. Not sure if it is limited slip. Have not had the head bolts fixed, looking into this, would appreciate some advise as it's running perfect right now. From my reaserch so far I think I am going to add the Rocky Road Outfitters budget lift and 245/75/16 tires. This is a daily driver so I can't go crazy with it. Also, I plan to add a LED light bar, roof rack(Have the rails) and ARB front bumper. Need info on that stuff too please. Thanks for your help and advise.

Welcome.....im from houston area, join us on facebook lonestar lost. Dont go with the rough country. Your suspension is shot and its not gonna be good in the long run. Go with Old Man Emu or Ironman. I have been around since 2007, i have had 3 KJs and the spacer lift wad a complete waste of money, especially with a arb.

The OME or Ironman rides great for a DD. Mine is at 4" with 32.2s and rides better than stock by a long shot

Thanks for the info. I need to correct myself though. The lift I'm looking into though is the Rocky Road Outfitters budget lift. Not sure how I mixed that up. Ill get on the FB page when I get a chance. How much is one of those kits you mentioned? From what I have seen the OME lift on their site dosn't work with the CRD.

Howdy - welcome to LOST - don't forget the Noob guide
http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=54207

the budget lift has been known to kill the front shocks in a single weekend.

I've got OME - works better than stock

I've heard reasonable things about ironman - not sure of the front springs

stock 410lbs/in - OME 790's are 500lb/in - you need something in that range to work.

I would not trust anything on the RockyRoad site - there's a history there.

much better choices are All-J's http://www.boulderbars.com/kjproducts.htm
and Jeepin by Al http://jeepinbyal.com/

Ironman HD or OME 790s for the CRD.

For my Ironman i spent 600, if you use coupons and wait for sales online for the shocks. But your looking at 700-800 and there are guys in SA can help and i can help.

I can't say enough about my Jeepin' by Al Adjust-A-Strut lift on my CRD. Rides great. I would highly recommend it.

I installed the lift and leveled things out. Sweet! Then I installed my ARB bumper, and was able to level it up again. Installed my skid plates and leveled it out once more (OK, I just went out and messed around with it after the skid plates, it didn't noticeably sag, but the option is there if I ever add anything else that's really heavy...)

By the way, with the CRD, you'll probably want to go with the 2.5" lift. That way you won't need to mess with the stub axles. You will get some additional bonus lift when you put the bigger wheels/tires on!
