Hey guys I'm a new member on here I drive a 2002 Jeep Liberty (it's name is chopper) and I love it. I've posted searched and received no answers on any forum. Hopefully you guys can help.
Let me fill you guys in on the story

Couple of months ago, I was driving to work and my engine jumped time
Sent it away and got the engine replaced
Got it back and started it up for the first time and hear a loud clatter noise.
Thought it was my starter so I thought nothing of it. I took it on my first drive and heard it ticking when I let off the gas as well as a rod knock at 2-3k rpm then a week later my oil light keep coming on (scratch that not even a week later)
The company sent a loaded to ce pickup my vehicle free of charge and fix it for free.
Got an email saying spun main bearings on block had to replace block. They replaced all lifters (for my concern for courtesy) and the whole block.
I've had my jeep back for a couple weeks and it runs great. Like new. No power loss, rod knock, anything

However, there is still a ticking. I sent a video (the one I'm going to show you down below) to the company and the engine builder said he was confident that the lifters would pump up. It does sound like lifters to me and my reason being is because when I give it has, nothing. When I let off the gas, the ticking is fast and slows down and nearly goes away at idle.

So what do you guys think of this noise?
Video below:
Also, no CEL, oil light etc and sound is best heard underneat vehicle so I recorded it under the vehicle. Engine is getting its first 500 mile oil change tomorrow

You don't say where you got the engine or who built it. I'd be somewhat assured by their past performance on first engine issue, but I'd want written assurances, perhaps an extended warranty on the "lifter pump up" statement.

My crate long block from O'Reilly has performed perfectly from day one without any noise issues.
$2,800 plus core.

It has a 100,000 mile warranty and they assured me if anything goes wrong they will take care of it free of charge and I have it on paper. The company was accurate engines in grand old Michigan. They never seen that problem before to where the engine spun the bearings but told me the new 3.7s take time to break in and the ticking would go away. Would you say that noise sounds like a lifter?

Would you say that sounds like a lifter? I opened her up for the first time after work tonight and power is stellar. No knocking or ticking heard until I let off the gas and when it idled under 2000rpm

Which side is it coming from?
You definitely need to get that checked out soon.

It could be an exhaust leak.

It's coming from the top end it seems. Toward the firewall. Can hear it under vehicle too. Sometimes there's no tick at cold start. Took my muffler off today because it was starting to bend because it rusted out. Sound very nice. I've heard I'll only lose a couple mpgs so I thought I'd just keep it off until I get a new one.

Yup. I'm going with exhaust leak.
Cold start is the most likely time you would hear a lifter problem.
Firewall...
Under the vehicle...
Its an exhaust leak.

Did you watch both videos? I don't see how that would be an exhaust leak

My point being is that an exhaust leak would sound loud under load and quiet when you coast. Mine is the opposite. Ticking when coasting, quiet when under load.

Look, I'm not there to see it, hear it, or touch it but based on your two videos, your descriptions of where you hear the sound, and my experience, I'm going with exhaust leak.
Its most likely at the point where the exhaust pipes bolt to the exhaust manifolds.
Its a common problem, especially when doing engine swaps.

Like I said, I'm not there to experience it personally. So I could be wrong.

My experience with 30 years running a muffler shop is that tiny, ticking exhaust leaks get quieter as engine runs. Metal expands and closes crack.
