After much advice and searching, I stumbled across a couple of wheels I didn't know existed. Let me know if I'm flawed in my thinking :JEEPIN:

ATX Mojave II 28 pounds 16x8" 4.5" BS
Moabs 24-25 lbs.? 5" BS?
Stock 17 or 19 lbs.? 5.5" BS
American Racing Baja 22 lbs. 4.5" BS 3100 lbs load! $96 free shipping amazon
Pro comp series 51 30 lbs.?
Steel soft 8's 33 lbs.? 4" BS and Maybe 7" width, but so heavy!

Please correct me if the weights are wrong, but I think there are two clear winners here. #1 AR Baja is my favorite for looks for the price, and from what I can find, it's either 22 or 23 pounds. Better BS than the Moabs, and lighter, oh, and it looks at least as good I think. No need to paint it black
#2 Probably the Moabs, but for a few pounds the ATX Mojave II's look amazing.

Granted, you can get the Soft 8's in 7" I think, but the stock ones lose out because you need spacers for a more stable ride, and for a few pounds the BAJA's are a clear winner.

Some of those weights seem odd. Generally car tires are ca. 22-25 lbs and light truck tires are 32-35 lbs. Of course there are lighter and heavier ones in each group. My stock size Long Trail TAs are 33lbs which is close to what the stock tires are IIRC.

PS Opps are you talking wheels as in rims as opposed to tires that go on rims. If the former ignore my comment. If you are speaking of rims then assuming strength is adequate then lower weight is good provided they fit and you can stand the cost.

hmm, I still have a set I can rob off a jeep I'm selling, tempting, I guess I could throw some cheap soft 8's on it. I haven't found any for sale up in these parts. Maybe I should call around at tire shops? I only looked on craigslist

You think those American racing Baja's are weak? They sure are light and rated for 3100 lbs is impressive.
