I would imagine that the GDE reader/writer device has a log file allowing Keith to see which tune was last written to the vehicles ECU. If Keith said you did not reinstall your old tune, I believe him.
The programmer is a secure "system". It gets locked to your vehicle and tracks what tune is currently in the vehicle. As Joshuarayborn found out you can't cheat it.

My suggestion is to throw it in the trash....
As far as performance is concerned I see a very measurable ~3mpg improvement and the oil carries much less soot. My fcv, which had failed prior to installing the tune, would have cost a lot of $$$ to repair if I had not chosen this route. I suspect if I'd continued to drive "stock" I would have also faced replacing the egr at some point too - even more $$$.
If it doesn't give you the advertised benefits then there's probably something wrong with your vehicle.
I agree the terms "ECO" and "green" are a bit misleading because there's a lot more to consider than a few mpg and $$$ savings for a product to be environmentally friendly and I haven't seen any studies that show this product reduces the environmental impact of our Jeep. You do, however, drive a Jeep which leads me to believe you're probably not too concerned about the environment anyway.
Oh, and by the way I pass the emissions test every time with this tune installed.
The savings I've made owning this tune have easily covered it's cost and it continues to give at every fill up. Like most others I also believe there are long term benefits to my engine from running without the egr. Why would I throw it in the trash?
