GDE is unbelievable but Kieth say my post and responded even on Easter. That is CUSTOMER SERVICE.
He told me to disconnect the battery, then disconnect ecu and reconnect it. If that did not work, return it and they would check on their CRD.
I had followed that sequence when I installed it but figured to try it again.
Glory be, it started right up and my codes I had been living with is gone.
I am so relieved because I will be using the CRD to go to my submarine reunion in MO in the middle of the month.

What codes were you getting before the tune? Been contemplating the same move to get rid of my inlet air pressure sensor problems.

I am by no means a GDE fanboy.
But please provide some tangible data about how the GDE is worse for the environment. And how the GDE tune compares to the stock tune and emissions output.

There have been a couple reports of folks with a GDE tune not passing their state required emissions test. GDE has stepped up and provided and adjustment to their tune and got them to pass.

The Jeep Liberty CRD is not a DPF/DEF Mercedes bluetec and never will be.

I would love to post a reply about this horrible company.

1. I installed the product thinking that it was good for the environment as they try to play it off.

2. After some research into what they actually do, the product is the exact opposite as being good for the environment. There is substantial increase in pollutants by using this product. They should get rid of their deceitful name.

3. After doing my research and giving the installation some time, I decided that maybe there would be enough increase in the MPG to justify the increase in pollutants. I graphed out my MPG for about a month and compared the results with MPG I was receiving prior to installing. The results with my Jeep Liberty was equal and therefore not worth the installation. The MPG after the installation was within the statistical error. Therefore the installation not only pollutes more, it will NOT make up for the additional pollutants by increasing the MPG.

4. I sent my results to the douche bag Keith by an email. He said I could return the product. So I reinstalled my old program because in my state, I would never in a million years pass the emissions testing with this doo doo product in my car. I mailed it back. 3 weeks later, still no refund. Douche bag Keith is claiming that I never reinstalled the old product, which is complete horse doo doo. Why would I want to fail the emissions and have my car be deemed un-driveable. Without the uploader, I cannot even cheat the emission system. They obviously are encouraging owners to cheat the emission testing with their product. Which I have notified my state of.

So GDE, go *&^^&* yourself. Your product is doo doo and damages the environment

Wrong forum to whine about the environment on.

Keith is OK with me answered all my questions on NUMEROUS phone calls before I got my Eco Tune. Is it good for the environment dont really care. Will my Liberty now have a long happy life I believe so. Do I have more power yes. Better gas mileage A little so yes. Sound better yes. Cleaner oil yes. Do I love my tune YES. If you are so worried about the environment get a bicycle. :goink:

GDE offers a refund to those who are not satisfied with their tune, provided they reinstall the original tune to the vehicles ECU. I would imagine that the GDE reader/writer device has a log file allowing Keith to see which tune was last written to the vehicles ECU. If Keith said you did not reinstall your old tune, I believe him.

The programmer is a secure "system". It gets locked to your vehicle and tracks what tune is currently in the vehicle. As Joshuarayborn found out you can't cheat it.

Joshuarayborn wrote:

As far as performance is concerned I see a very measurable ~3mpg improvement and the oil carries much less soot. My fcv, which had failed prior to installing the tune, would have cost a lot of $$$ to repair if I had not chosen this route. I suspect if I'd continued to drive "stock" I would have also faced replacing the egr at some point too - even more $$$.

If it doesn't give you the advertised benefits then there's probably something wrong with your vehicle.

I agree the terms "ECO" and "green" are a bit misleading because there's a lot more to consider than a few mpg and $$$ savings for a product to be environmentally friendly and I haven't seen any studies that show this product reduces the environmental impact of our Jeep. You do, however, drive a Jeep which leads me to believe you're probably not too concerned about the environment anyway.

Oh, and by the way I pass the emissions test every time with this tune installed.

The savings I've made owning this tune have easily covered it's cost and it continues to give at every fill up. Like most others I also believe there are long term benefits to my engine from running without the egr. Why would I throw it in the trash?

When I purchased my 05 Limited (replaced 05 Sport that got rear ended by dump truck at red light) with 26,446 miles on the clock the rear bumper above the exhaust was stained black with diesel soot and the slightest acceleration produced a mosquito fogger truck like cloud of black smoke. After GED EcoTune and cleaning of bumper soot stain and 30k more miles (some with GDE Stage II turbo and its tune) no bumper stain and no cloud of smoke except when I do the occasional Italian tuneup and even then it's only a small amount of smoke. MPG up 10-20%. Cleaner combustion and higher mpg = better for environment.

As much as we try to make all our customers happy...
We offered to refund the tune to this gentleman and told him to flash the stock tune back in before returning the flash tool. When we received the tool, it would not let us erase it as the GDE tune was still installed. Thus no refund! We then offered to send him the tool back and again revert back to stock. He did not want to do and decided to open a case with paypal. Paypal will stand behind us on this one.

Again, our tunes pass all state emission tests. They are also sold for 'off-road' use only.

Thanks for the response. I seriously doubt a single person here took this guy seriously. We all know GDE is top notch.

It is not better for the environment dum dum. The soot is going into the air instead of being recirculated through the EGR valve. Basic physics, retard.

I think you clearly do not grasp the concepts of the emission controls hardware on your vehicle. The EGR valve does not stop soot from going out of the tailpipe. This is done by a particulate filter which the Liberty does not have.

Pop quiz:

The EGR serves to reduce which form of emissions/pollutants from a diesel engine?
A. Particulate matter (soot)
B. Oxides of nitrogen (NOX)
C. Both A and B
D. None of the above

Some folks think even negative advertising is still good are it creates awareness. We are going to refund this guy the cost of the tune, since he did not actually get it installed. We were not lying about anything, it took some time to figure out exactly what he did with the flash tool based on the log files. Now that we know he did not have the capability to use the software or tool properly or follow instructions, we will refund the tune. However, since he damaged the flash tool we can't refund that.

The vitriol emanating from his heart makes me feel sad for him. I was never raised that way and I grew up near where this guy lives. Hopefully he will find his soul before it is too late.

On the alternate side, his posts are quite funny in the lack of knowledge on diesel emissions.

I guess you never cleaned out an EGR full of soot...dip doo doo

Aww, your ignorance is soo cute.
Like a cute little puppy begging for my french fries.
I cant resist feeding you.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exhaust_gas_recirculation
Quote:
Since diesel engines are unthrottled, EGR does not lower throttling losses in the way that it does for SI engines. Exhaust gas—largely nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and water vapor—has a higher specific heat than air, so it still serves to lower peak combustion temperatures. However, adding EGR to a diesel reduces the specific heat ratio of the combustion gases in the power stroke. This reduces the amount of power that can be extracted by the piston. EGR also tends to reduce the amount of fuel burned in the power stroke. This is evident by the increase in particulate emissions that corresponds to an increase in EGR.

Quote:
By feeding the lower oxygen exhaust gas into the intake, diesel EGR systems lower combustion temperature, reducing emissions of NOx. This makes combustion less efficient, compromising economy and power. The normally "dry" intake system of a diesel engine is now subject to fouling from soot, unburned fuel and oil in the EGR bleed, which has little effect on airflow. However, when combined with oil vapor from a PCV system, can cause buildup of sticky tar in the intake manifold and valves. It can also cause problems with components such as swirl flaps, where fitted. Diesel EGR also increases soot production, though this was masked in the US by the simultaneous introduction of diesel particulate filters.[9] EGR systems can also add abrasive contaminants and increase engine oil acidity, which in turn can reduce engine longevity.

Inquiring minds must know. Where does the soot that does not end up stuck in the egr and intake end up?
