Doesn't it suck that we are excited to pay ONLY $2.99, I remember like 4 years ago being mad to pay as much as $1.65 for diesel in my TDI. I am thinking wrong?

I've only found one local supplier of biodiesel, & they're over in Marietta GA. I've heard mixed reviews from another L.O.S.T. member about performance because their biodiesel is made from chicken fat. I got a lead on a supplier (thank you National Biodiesel Board) in Cartersville GA, a lot closer to my home, & will call them Monday or
Tuesday.

I've been working on a blend for my CRD recently, & have had good results so far. I've thinned it more due to the Common Rail injection system. Here's the formula I've come up with:

10.0 gallons WVO (filtered to 5 microns)
2.0 gallons kerosene (20% instead of 15%)
1.0 gallon dino-diesel
8.0 oz cetane booster
8.0 oz Sta-Bil fuel stabilizer

If anyone has any comments or suggestions, good, bad, or ugly, please feel free to make them.

Even worst when thinking a diesel should by definition have *less* processing therefore cost less... pricing is so artificial in the US/Canada
I move from Quebec/Can 6 years ago and was so happy to pay .99/gal in the US !!!
In 6 years price went 300% up for gas, sadly my salary increase is missing at least a "0" LOL

2 questions: what do you mean by good results, and why the cetane & Sta-Bil? Is it to compensate for kerosene side effects?

Good results: I haven't had any sort of engine troubles thus far & hope it remains that way.

Cetane Boost & Sta-Bil: Since I have no idea what type of oil I'm working with, I wanted to at least make an attempt to raise the cetane # as much as possible, within reason of course. As for the Sta-Bil, that's added for thinning purposes too & also to give the fuel a little more
UUUMMMPH. I haven't run across any posts about kerosene side effects

Been running B100 (99) which is delivered to my house for $3.49 a gallon. Never underestimate how good it feels to pass up the gas stations and fill up at your house! The stuff is manufacturered by World Energy (one of the large producers/distributors) and is ASTM. I really wouldn't risk putting anything other than ASTM grade stuff in there...way WAY too many variables that could get you. I'm getting an 80's benz for straight veggie conversion...but those are very different engines...plus its an old, old, cheap car so I don't expect many years out of it...but using free waste veg oil will pay for the car in 1 year of driving so that's fine!

ps in CT there is only one station selling only B20, so home delivery is the only way to go. If you are in CT call Gus from www.greenleafbiofuels.com. Oh, and they sell cheaper stuff for my furnace/hot water.

pps started a site about running the Libby on BioD: www.biodieseljeep.com

Hey guy I like bio-diesel also, but there is no ASTM for B100 or any mixture of Bio and D2 as yet, there is standard for B20 for the military and that is all and it is not athorized for non military. Just be warned that if you have any problem with the engine D/C may be able to deny warranty because you used more then the prescribed B5 mixture, so I would not be advertizing that you are using anything above B5 here or at the dealership. Local tech's have said that D/C has been requiring oil or fuel samples on most all fuel systems or engine problems/failures this year, compaired to just 2 or 3 last year. Lastest was a Dodge Cummins with fuel pump failure for second time in 20k miles, fuel sample was Biodiesel with high water & trash content. Anyway he is out the cost of a new fuel pump and labor.

The ASTM Standard is for B100 as an additive. The ASTM-standard for the additive is being used as a neat fuel.

Special agent, where do you fill up? I'm living close to Issaquah so going to the Grange. Are you going to the one near UW on 45th?

I'm still fueling up at Seattle Biofuels by the 509 freeway and Spokane street, between Georgetown and West Seattle.

Wish we had B100 here from the pump and it was less then #2-D, but we pay average 7 cents extra for B10 or 5 cents for B2 fuel, but at least it is 49 cetane and I have never had a fuel problem from the suppliers fuel.
