I talked to the gentleman at Linear-Logic (ScanGauge manufacturer) and he tells me he only has one report of the 'naps'. If he gets more than one report he will put the CRD on the incompatible list, otherwise, he waits.

Beyond that, he mentioned that DCX originally had so many problems with OBD II compatibility that the Feds made them do a recall to fix it. He has a number of ideas to try and fix the problem if indeed it remains. He told me that things got better with the most recent ECM flashes; evidently, Dodge has worked a few fixes in...

So - short version, if you are experiencing problems let him know and we can probably get a fix by working with them:

From their documentation:

"An e-mail to service@linear-logic.com may be able to assist in solving a
problem and will not diminish your rights to the full warranty."

"If a problem with this product develops after the warranty period, you
may contact our service department via the mail address or e-mail
address listed above for a cost estimate on repairs to the unit. If the
problem is not handled to your satisfaction, contact our customer care
department at customer.care@linear-logic.com"

Ive been running my SGII in the CRD for a month or so, and well it crashes here and there, enough where i cant go a full tank and get accurate tank and trip readings. Very disapointed. The calibration changes depending on which module it ends up syncing w/ on the CRD too, somtimes it does one, and the MPG rates one way, and then another. One modules seems to understand that overrun == 0.0gph and 9999mpg and the other does not. Very flakey. I only find it usefull for boost pressure, and sometimes eng temp/intake air temp. my intake air temp apears to be very high all the time too never goes below like 130degrees f. but that could be the sensor in the CRD which i read gets all sooted up by the EGR and reads poorly. Either way just wanted to chime in on my SGII experience. wish it worked better. PS works fantastic on my jetta TDI.....

The intake air temp is in the airbox, so it won't be soiled by the EGR. It is, however, very close to the engine and hot turbo. So that's why intake air reads so high. The air is being cooled by the intercooler, so it makes me wonder why they didn't put the intake air temp sensor after the intercooler?

I too have seen the lockups, but it's not the scangauge, it's the CRD's computer. The scangauge still works, and you can scroll through the menus and ever read some data. It won't pull or clear codes when it locks up either. Typically if you shut the engine off for a few minutes and then start it back up, all is well again. I've put the Scangauge in "SLOW" poll mode and haven't seen it lock up yet.

I think or CRD's ECU is the slow kid in the class.

your right the SGII does not lock up but its irrelevent as it doesnt get the data it needs to display anything useful. Mine crashes so often that i cant calibrate it correctly w/ out a lot of fudge factor (i certainly cant calibrate it per the instructions as it crashes b4 i can drive long enough to get an accurate reading). My dealer tells me all the recalls on my vehicle have been performed. unless they lie like the dogs that they are... (which they often do, i so hate dealers, all of them!)

So my only hope w/ the SGII is that SGII people can make it work w/ the CRD or ive been lied to and my dealer didnt perform the apropriate recalls
There is another post on another forum that im trying to dig up which goes into higher detail on what the problem is exactly but i cant find it at the moment. will post if i come across it. I beileve there are two ecu's so to speak on the CRD and one crashes and resets itsef periodicly, the car knows what to do w/ the event but the SGII does not and cant re-sync w/ the ecu/ecu's. But again if i can find the post ill pull it in here....

and just cuz im feeling like making a point of it....
THERE IS AN AIR TEMP sensor on the high press side of turbo why else would it read 130-160F all the time? And it does get sooted up and can mis-read....
this is my reference material....

I'm liking mine. I don't have severe "drop out" issues with it. The scangauge works fine for me. It's lost contact with the ECU maybe twice.

I set it on "slow" refresh and it hasn't locked since. The MPG readout is very "optimistic" to say the least. I don't use it anymore. It was telling me that I was getting 37mpg, so as the website says, it's not functional.

I use the intake air, water temp, manifold pressure, and voltage gauges. All of them can indicate problems and display helpful info.

Mine arrived yesterday - got it from Amazon (probably direct shipped) for $159, shipping included. Took a few days to get here.

Seems to work - but I haven't done much but a short test drive (low fuel light was on - Mama tends to stretch things).

I should have some feedback on the lock/hang/going quiet thing (just did F37 last month) and also the MPG function over this next week.

Just for grins, I plugged it into my Suburban (has the Cummins engine from a Dodge PU). That model year engine is on the incompatible list (04.5-05s evidently), but everything seems to work fine except the screen goes blank when I try to clear the codes. Since I didn't hook up the battery temp sensor during the conversion, it codes for that... and I've replaced the lift pump with a Carter back on the frame, so it codes that one too.

So - thus far, I'm happy with the two-fer.

Mark

I have had my SGII on for a month now.

Mine used to lock up occasionally, but I switched the refresh rate to "slow" or whatever, and it has not locked up again since then.

After I did a fill up and "calibrated" my fuel use - it is quite accurate, trip functions and all.

I didn't notice where he was located. I will probably order from him this weekend!

Just got mine, changed it to slow scan as well when it would only work intermittently. So far it works great in slow scan.

Slow scan seems to extend the time before lockup. Drove 2 hours straight to northern Indiana and SGII worked for about 40 minutes to an hour into the trip both ways.

I got my scan guage today when I went home for lunch! Slapped her on while going back to work and configuring it while driving through traffic. This little guy is awesome, at first it was showing me 200 mpg, lol. Then I changed the tank size and then to dieselb and it seems to much more accurate. This should make those long trips more fun!

Now to hook up a laptop to the scanner and log all data, then I would have something to check against down the road.

Two questions...

1) It works on Dieselb??

2) You can hook it up to a computer??
