If Im correct 2002 was the only year that the KJ was at the Rubi Trail to earn its Badge. and after it was all said and done . there was so much flex on the Unibody they had issues opening the doors. But it did a great jog Stock :D

my current money situation also limits my jeep budget unfortunately

also, 2002 was the year the libby got its 'trail rated,' but the only thing they really changed was the transmission and slight change in height, but the whole unibody flex, i don't recall hearing about it being that much of an issue, although still present.

doors are for old people anyways

Speaking as an old person, I resemble that remark.

I had 245/70R16 AT tires (no MTs or anything) and no lift and no skids (that last part wasn't on purpose) for the 2009 ECS. The only other non-stock item was a few accessory tow points (mopar hooks and a hitch reciever work fine). I was amazed at the stuff I got through and I think some others were as well. As mentioned, good spotters, a tow strap, and good skills seem to be the most important thing.

Just having one day of trails under my belt made me feel like I was twice the driver I started as at the beginning of the weekend. Take you time picking your lines on obstacles, be cautious when you're not comfortable and trust the advice of those with more experience than you and you'll have a great time.

Dan

I did a lot of spotting at ECS and the extra challenge of spotting for Dan in his Jeep always seemed to be the most fun. Something about getting a vehicle with supposedly less capability through the same obstacles was just gratifying.

I've wheeled mine plenty of times at stock height. I was blown away at the places I could go. Tow hooks are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED though. Without them there is really nothing to hook onto. I had to get pulled out once by hooking up to the front LCA. Yikes!! A light tug and I was free with no damage caused. I had factory tow hooks the next day. lol. Another recommondation is skid plates. I have scraped the crud outta my Mopar skids and I'd prefer that damage rather than what they are protecting. Another contact point seems to be the muffler. I've got some big dents and scrapes on it. Also make sure you have decent AT's. I run the Toyo Open Country AT's stock size and they are just fine, even through the mud.

After 4 months or so of offroading at stock height I decided to get a 2.5" lift, which is enroute. Figured I'd give my skid plates a break

Cliffnotes: tow hooks front and rear, skid plates, good tires and have fun. Use your head though
